Catherine, Queen or Countess ?

Catherine de Medicis is remembered as the Queen of a particularly disturbed period in history, but she also was the countess Lauragais. We have given her back this title with our 'Comtesse Catherine' bedroom. For, beyond the history of political miasmas and the religious quarrels, Catherine de Medicis has left us a Florentine elegance, a certain Tuscan atmosphere, an influence that one comes across almost by chance along the narrow streets of old Castelnaudary.
A transitory guest at our castle, which was at that time a rustic manor benefiting from enveloped by the coolness of the river, the sovereign deserves that our finest room should carry her name.
